Abstract
Parkinson disease may complicate the postoperative course by muscles rigidity and respiratory dysfunction. There are some recently published papers suggesting the utility of NMDA receptor inhibitors for this situation. Ketamine administered preoperatively was used with fair results. We describe a patient with Parkinson disease in whom the continuous postoperative administration of ketamine reduced the muscular rigidity and avoided the respiratory dysfunction.
