Conclusions

The lung can be considered a pertinent reason for introducing ultrasound in the intensivist’s culture - since the simplest signs (that ironically have been the most difficult to be published) are found at the most critical organ. This simplicity is the key of a widespread diffusion [32]. The possibility of real-time assessment at the bedside make ultrasound a unique tool making intensive care medicine safer.

Remember that ultrasound is a genuine stethoscope, since Scopein means “to observe” and Stethos.... “the chest wall”.
