Abstract

Aim: to objectify the signification and the correlations between the circulatory levels of the main interleukins and the clinical data of the patients.

Materials & Methods:
The study was performed on 60 patients with urosepsis admitted to the departments of Urology and ICU during the period November 2002 – April 2004. The patients were divided into categories of severity of the sepsis, according to the ACCP/SCCM classification, and were monitored using the APACHE II score. Starting with the day when the diagnosis was established until the 15th day of the evolution, the serum concentrations of IL-6, IL-8 and IL-10 were determined.

Conclusion:
The correlations and statistical interpretations of the results showed the value of the circulatory citokines for the positive diagnosis of sepsis, for the evaluation of the clinical evolution, the presence of the organic dysfunctions and the prognosis.
