Abstract
In conscious rats, ethylephrine (0.1–2.5 mg/kg) failed to affect the myorelaxation induced by pancuronium (test of Julou–Courvoisier). Only the highest dose (2.5 mg/kg) prolonged myorelaxation duration significantly. In ethyl-urethane anesthetized rats and guinea-pigs, ethylephrine had only minimal, non significant effects on respiration and on the electrocardiogram modified by the intravenous infusion of d-tubocurarine. From these data it may be concluded that the co-administration of ethylephrine and myorelaxants does not induce harmful interactions.
Key words: ethylephrine, pancuronium, d-tubo-curarine, rats, guinea-pigs
